In this project we will know which is better Wi-Fi or WiMax. The Wi-Fi or Wireless Fidelity Technology is a trademark of the Wi-Fi Alliance. Wi-Fi is a universal wireless networking technology that utilizes radio frequencies to transfer data. Wi-Fi allows for high speed Internet connections without the use of cables or wires. The term Wi-Fi is a contraction of “wireless fidelity” and commonly used to refer to wireless networking technology. Wi-Fi allows you to connect to the Internet from just about anywhere from just about anywhere - a coffee shop, a bed in a hotel room or a conference room at work without wires. And the best thing of all, it is super fast - almost 10 faster than a regular dial-up connection. Wi-Fi networks operate in the unlicensed 2.4 radio bands, with an 11 Mbps (802.11b) or 54 Mbps (802.11a) data rate, respectively.

The WiMax or the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a telecommunications protocol that provides fixed and mobile Internet access. The current WiMax revision provides up to 40 Mbps with the IEEE 802.16 update expected to offer up to 1 Gbit/s fixed speed. The name WiMax was created by the WiMax Forum, which was formed in June 2001 to promote conformity and interoperability of the standard. The forum describes WiMax as a “standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL”.
